Green Central Announced as Headline Sponsor for Rugby League Cares’ DC2NYC Charity Challenge
Wakefield-based energy specialists Green Central have been named the Principal Sponsor of DC2NYC, the biggest annual fundraising event organised by Rugby League Cares.
Taking place this September, the challenge will see around 20 dedicated riders travel to the United States for a once-in-a-lifetime cycle from Washington D.C. to New York City, all in support of the charity’s vital work within rugby league communities.
Among those taking part are rugby legends Adrian Morley and Paul Sculthorpe MBE, along with Green Central Managing Director James Elston, a former professional player for York and Dewsbury. James has proudly taken part in every RL Cares cycling event since the first Ride to Wembley in 2017.
“As a business, we’re proud to strengthen our relationship with Rugby League Cares—a charity that works tirelessly to support the communities we operate in,” said James.
“Green Central shares the same values of resilience, teamwork and giving back. Personally, I’m really looking forward to this challenge. I’ve done a few of these rides now, including cycling into Manhattan from Niagara Falls, and while they push you to your limits, the cause and the memories make it all worthwhile.”
Chris Rostron, Chief Executive of Rugby League Cares, added:
“We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to James and everyone at Green Central for their continued support.
DC2NYC in Partnership with Green Central is not only our biggest fundraiser of the year—it’s a reflection of the strong partnerships we’ve built over the last decade. Green Central’s growth and values align perfectly with our mission, and we’re proud to have them on board.”
